Roofing in Holmen, WI
The old roof is torn off completely and a new roof system is installed from the decking up to the shingles.
A full roof replacement starts with stripping the old shingles off down to the decking, because that is the only way to actually see the condition of the wood underneath. Soft or water stained decking gets replaced before anything new goes down. From there we install ice and water shield along the eaves and valleys, which matters a lot here because ice dams are a real problem once the snow starts piling up and melting unevenly against a warm attic.
Most roof failures we see later come down to two things that are invisible once the shingles are on, not enough ice and water protection at the eaves, and poor attic ventilation that lets snow melt unevenly and refreeze at the edge. That refreezing backs water up under the shingles and it ends up in the attic or running down an interior wall. We install proper underalyment and ice barrier across the vulnerable areas, flash correctly around chimneys and vents, and make sure the attic has the ventilation it needs to keep the whole roof performing through the winter.
How it runs
- Tear off The existing roof is stripped off entirely down to the wood decking.
- Deck inspection Decking is checked for soft spots or water damage and replaced where needed before moving forward.
- Ice barrier and underlayment Ice and water shield goes down at the eaves and valleys, followed by underlayment across the rest of the roof.
- Shingle installation New shingles or roofing material are installed according to manufacturer spec.
- Flashing and venting Flashing is installed around chimneys, vents, and valleys, and attic ventilation is addressed.
- Cleanup The site is cleaned up and swept for nails before we walk you through the finished roof.
