Siding in Holmen, WI
Old siding stripped off the house and new siding installed wall by wall over a proper moisture barrier.
Once the old siding comes off, you find out what has really been happening on the wall behind it. Sheathing that looked fine from the yard can be soft or water stained where old flashing failed, and that has to get fixed before anything new goes up, not covered over. We go wall by wall, strip everything down, check the sheathing, and lay a new moisture barrier before a single piece of new siding is hung.
Bad siding jobs usually fail in ways you cannot see from the ground. Panels nailed too tight leave no room for the material to expand and contract through a Wisconsin winter, and that shows up years later as buckling or cracking. Flashing skipped or done wrong around windows and corners lets water behind the wall where it sits and rots the sheathing slowly, long before anyone sees a stain inside. We install correctly around every window, corner, and roof line, and we leave the right gap for the material to move as the temperature swings.
How it runs
- Removal Old siding is stripped off wall by wall so we can see the actual condition of the sheathing.
- Sheathing check Any rot or water damaged sheathing found underneath is repaired or replaced before we move on.
- Wrap and flash A new moisture barrier goes on along with proper flashing at every window, corner, and roof line.
- Install siding New siding is hung with correct fastening and the expansion gaps the material needs.
- Trim out Corner boards, trim, and caulking are finished to close everything up.
- Final walkthrough We go around the whole house to check the finished siding and trim before calling it done.
